Playing the Game of Life

Welcome to Playing the Game of Life

Here we go. Welcome to “Playing the Game of Life.” Let’s start with a quick intro.

Maybe you know me. Maybe you don’t. In any case, I’m Anna Angelova. Born and raised in Bulgaria. Came to Canada in 2014, fell in love with the country and decided to stay. I wish I could say I’m a proud Canadian but these days I’m very disillusioned with us Canadians. But this is a separate topic for another day.

I’d describe myself as a business consultant & coach, co-founder of Leficomp, and creator of Plandore. I’d also say my superpowers are kindness and analytical thinking (my GMAT score was 750 which was above average for the top tier business schools; just saying).

Why “Playing the Game of Life”

I’ve been thinking about my personal brand recently, especially in the light of trying to build my own business these past 18 months.

If you know me, you know I’m not the loudest person in the room. I know it might be a bit of a cliche, because it seems everyone insists they are an introvert, but I’m an introvert and still a shy person to boost. Very self-conscious and self-judgmental in some ways. Even after years of personal development and growth.

If you know me, you also know that when I do speak up I have something to share. So, it really makes sense for me to be who I am online as well. Which brings me to this blog.

Once a week I will be sharing my thoughts, ideas, and questions on living life to the fullest. Because I truly believe the world needs to hear (well, read) my point of view as well.

A bit about the name

I know you might be wondering about the name. Why is the blog called “Playing the Game of Life”?

Well, it’s all thanks to iPEC. I’ll be sharing more about my lifechanging and awesome experience with becoming a certified professional coach through iPEC and the iPEC lessons, but for now I’d mention one of the principles from iPEC:

“Life is a perfect adventure; a game that cannot be won or lost, only played”

Bruce D. Schneider, iPEC

I love this principle. It speaks volumes. And I love thinking of life as a game to be played. It’s so liberating and empowering.

So, I decided that this is a perfect name for what I’m starting now. Because I also want to share a wide range of ideas and thoughts. Everything from my favorite topics of personal development, finances, business, productivity, and sports to health, family, and even religion and politics.

So, let’s start playing the game of life, shall we?

Playing the Game of Life

Is this for you?

I know you might be wondering whether this is something you want to keep on reading and following.

Well, I don’t really know.

In general, I wouldn’t say I’m an interesting person. In some respects, especially compared to the prevailing culture these days, I’m probably boring. So, maybe, this is not for you. And that’s perfectly fine.

I personally don’t know what kind of topics and ideas I’ll be sharing in the coming weeks and months.

What I know is that my purpose is to help people see life differently. With greater choice, responsibility, kindness, curiosity, and possibility.

You see, many of us spend our days either playing the victim or blaming everything and everyone. These are both destructive mindsets and attitudes. Yes, absolutely, you can choose to play the game of life this way. And that’s perfectly fine. The problem though is that many people are not choosing this consciously.

I know I’m going on a bit of a tangent, but this is at the core of my why and what I’m starting.

Yes, I’ll be sharing many examples from my own experience. I know there will be some very tangible and actionable insights (such as how I use the ideas from “Profit First”).

Oh, I guarantee that a lot of the topics will be related to books. I love reading and listening to books. Books have changed my life.

So, back to the question. Is this for you?

Yes, this is for you if you:

  1. Want to live life to the fullest by playing the game of life
  2. Are interested in personal development and growth
  3. Care about your impact in the world
  4. Enjoy questioning conventional wisdom and your own assumptions
  5. Are open to learning and growing
  6. Have been stuck in victim mentality or blame culture
  7. Know you are not living life to your fullest potential

No, this is not for you if you:

  1. Are not interested in personal development and growth
  2. Don’t care about living life to your fullest potential
  3. Don’t believe you can change your life
  4. Look for quick fixes and shortcuts
  5. Think you know it all
  6. Feel easily offended
  7. Can’t have a civilized conversation with someone you don’t agree with

Last words for today

I’m a bit of an organization freak. I like structure, systems, and frameworks. So, don’t be surprised that going forward the topics will follow a predictable flow.

Again, inspired by iPEC and the Wheel of Life, starting next week, I’ll be sharing my ideas, thoughts, and questions in the following 8 categories:

  • Personal Development
  • Health & Wellness
  • Spirituality
  • Personal Finances
  • Fun & Enjoyment
  • Career & Business
  • Relationships
  • Family & Parenting

What does it mean for you?

Well, if you are only interested in the health & wellness topic, then you can come back every 8 weeks and skip the rest.

Anyway. I don’t have anything else to say today, so I’m wrapping things up.

Next week, I’ll share more about the book that changed my life and why I think it is a must-read for every single person. It should be mandatory reading in school!

Have a wonderful Labor Day long weekend if you are in US or Canada and start playing the game of life.
